WHEELS, BRAKES & REAREND PICTURES

1969 Ford Mustang Convertible

Wanted to set the car apart from the norm here.  Custom ordered Boyd Coddington billet wheels in 18 x 9 and 18 x 8 inch with custom offset to get all the tire inside the fender well.  This car has really big tires with absolutely no modifications to the fender wells.  285/35/18 rear and 245/40/18 front Nitto Extreme tires.  If you take a look at the pictures, you will see that it isn't that noticeable at first that it has 18" wheels on it.  By putting the 13" brakes inside, it gives an illusion that the wheels aren't that large.  Overall, it has a fantastic look.

Nitto tires.

Pictures below are of the brake installation on the rear of the Mustang.  Some pictures with flash, some without.  Lot's of different angles.  All in all, it isn't too tough of a job with the Baer Kit.  Rear brake calipers are PBR and the same as what comes on the 1988 Corvette so pads and parts are easy to come by.  Thanks for Hal and Dutch at Baer brakes for their guidance and support of the installation.  It isn't that hard of an operation once you start to tackle it.  The 3rd member in the car is a 4-pinion Trac-lok with 3.50 Richmond gears built by Rusty Bayh.  The car exhibited quite a bit of axle wrap due to the high torque output of the engine and also was bad about wheel hop.  Built a plate to mount to the bottom of the car and then a rubber snubber on top of the pinion shield which limits the amount of axle wrap seems to help the problem substantially.  Shocks are gas Edelbrock.........a vast improvement over the KYB's that were on it.
