STEREO PICTURES
1969 Ford
Mustang Convertible
Ok, so I grew up in the
60's and 70's and I like my music loud.....mainly to
drown out my singing, but anyway, I wanted to have nice
crisp sound in the car, which is pretty difficult to do in a
convertible. The system is a set of components from
three different manufacturers, but it really came out nice and
sounds awesome. The head unit is an Alpine which plays CDs, MP3s and as well has a direct
input for my iPod. The face is the swing down style
and I modified a stock radio face plate to go around
it. All of the speakers in the car are by Focal, and
the interior of the car has two 6 1/2"
coaxials in the
rear seating area and two 5" coaxials in the front
doors behind the
factory grills. Amplifiers are JL Audio with a
250/1 for the two 11" Subs and a 300/4
running the 4 front Speakers. The trunk houses
the Amps and the two subs in an enclosure with a port
leading into the passenger compartment just behind the rear
seat. The stereo sounds really good without
taking away from the original look of the car.

Here is the start. A JL
Audio 300/4 Amp that I'm using to power the front 4
speakers. 75 Watts to each.

Passenger door with Dyna-Mat
and the Focal 5" speaker installed. They may be
small, but you can really push the power to them.

More B-Quite Sound Deadener

Picture of the Alpine head
unit installed. Has removable face and plays CD's and
direct input from my iPod.
Door panels installed over the
Focal 5 1/4" speakers. Used original Ford speaker grills.
Rear speakers, Focal 6 1/2"

Box with 2 Focal 11"
subs. Enclosure is Band-Pass with the port extending
into the cabin behind the rear seat. It will rattle
the windows! I left the trunk well open so that a set
of golf clubs will still fit in the trunk.

Here is a good picture of where the port
comes in behind the rear seat. Sound deadener everywhere!!! Once the
rear seat is in place, you see nothing!

JL Audio 300/4 Amp. Powering the front
4 speakers. I just used some MDF and made a mount and
utilized some existing tabs to hold them in place.

JL Audio 250/1 Mono Amp. Powering the
two rear Sub-Woofers. Just to the left of the amp is
the 150 Amp fuse block, with the power cable running
directly to the battery.

Shot of the Amps installed.

inside.
